Aquagems is a family-owned business founded by father and son duo, Omar and Bryan. With a passion for aquaculture and a commitment to excellence, we've dedicated ourselves to breeding premium discus fish and producing high-quality live blackworms.
With over two years of experience in discus breeding, we've honed our skills to produce fish of exceptional quality and beauty. Our journey began with a vision to create a thriving aquatic community, and we've since expanded our operations to include the cultivation of live blackworms in an indoor lab setting.
Meet the Founders
Omar is the father of our family and also the backbone of Aquagems. With an engineer’s precision and a craftsman’s hand, he is the mastermind who has literally built our business from the ground up, alongside his son. His extensive experience spans over five years in the aquaculture industry, during which he has honed his skills and deepened his passion for aquatic life. Before establishing Aquagems, Omar owned and operated a fish store in Cuba, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new venture. He is our go-to problem solver, dedicated to maintaining the integrity and functionality of our operations. Whether it’s fixing a tricky filter or designing a complex aquarium system, Omar ensures that every piece runs perfectly, embodying the spirit of dedication and hard work that Aquagems stands for.
Bryan is the dynamic force behind much of the innovation and operational efficiency at Aquagems. Working closely under the guidance of his father, Omar, Bryan has been instrumental in building our state-of-the-art facility from scratch. His role extends beyond construction, as he spearheads the technological and logistical frameworks that sustain our day-to-day operations. Although Bryan might say he lacks his father’s years of experience, his passion for aquaculture has blossomed rapidly over the past two years. During this time, he has not only helped build the business alongside Omar but has also carved out his own niche as an expert in the field. Under the mentorship of some of the world’s foremost discus breeders, Bryan has quickly advanced his skills and knowled.
Martha is the glue that keeps our Aquagems family tightly bound together. She’s the calming force in the whirlwind of day-to-day excitement that her husband Omar and son Bryan bring into the mix. Always there to smooth over the rough edges, Martha’s warmth and steadiness make her the heart of our operations. At Aquagems, Martha is more than just a stabilizing presence; she’s part of the very fabric that makes our business a family. Her laughter lightens our load, and her wisdom keeps us grounded—a truly indispensable part of our team.
